Meet the First Time Publishing team

James Evans - Managing Director

James has been at the helm of Firstcar Ltd since the company was incorporated in 2004, after spotting an opportunity to get into the young driver market with a website and magazine whilst studying at sixth form.

James is a self-starting entrepreneur with a passion for innovation and creativity. Away from work, James likes to keep fit by playing squash, tennis, swimming and attending the gym. He is a helmsman on the Walmer Lifeboat, which he joined at 17, following in his Father’s footsteps.

Richard Dredge - Head of Product

Richard joined James when FirstCar was in its infancy; since 2006 he has guided the brand’s editorial policy, both online and offline. Having started in motoring journalism on a freelance basis while at university in the late 1990s, Richard’s first staff job was with What Car before defecting to Top Gear in 2000.

Although Richard is a car enthusiast through and through, he prefers to spend his free time walking and cycling, plus he’s an avid photographer too.

Richard Storrs - Sales Director

Richard is a co-owner of FirstCar Limited. Having joined the team in 2009 to look after solely advertising, following impressive initial results, his role within the business quickly grew. He is now fully responsible for not only for delivering crucial advertising revenues, but he looks after print, distribution, circulation and events.

James Barrell - Deputy Head of Product

James has been a member of the First Time Publishing team since June 2014 and is responsible for product development. With a background in motoring journalism and a degree in comedy writing, James is involved in all aspects of First Time Publishing’s creative output and prides himself in being able to deliver effective, absorbing and, if it calls for it, humorous, media campaigns.

In his spare time, James interests include playing guitar, analogue photography, food and going to the pub.

Bill Thisdell - Videographer

Bill studied physics with science communication at Royal Holloway, University of London, but definitely found his calling from the documentary filmmaking side of the course. Next, developing-world journalism champion, One World Media agreed to fund his trip to Ethiopia where the aspirations of young pilots inspired his documentary 'fly, Ethiopia'.

Back in the UK, Bill has been working with First Time Publishing producing video content for events, campaigns and car reviews.

Tom Langdown - Business Development

Tom joined First Time Publishing in May 2014 and is responsible for all of the off-the-shelf product sales. With a degree in marketing from the University of the West of England and a background in sales and marketing, Tom has taken the role in his stride and developed close relationships with all his clients.

Tom is always happy to help and takes pride in going the extra mile. He takes the time to understand each customer’s needs and provides innovative solutions to support his customers in achieving their goals. Outside of work, Tom enjoys playing golf, playing the piano, cooking and socialising and has a keen interest in NLP.
