Over the past ten years of publishing award-winning magazines, such as the Young Driver's Guide, FirstCar have developed a set of skills that transcend the publishing of magazines. The principles are largely transferable and we have recently been engaged to work on developing resources for primary age children, motorcyclists, adult cyclists and novice drivers.
FirstCar's founder, James Evans, leads on all projects and having completed the RSGB Practitioners Course, has a solid understanding of the need to integrate behaviour change methodology and robust evaluation into all our works. If you are looking for support to create a print or digital resource that will stand the tests of time and deliver your objectives in an engaging and professional manner, then FirstCar would like to hear from you.
Our services include:
- Full research and copy-writing
- Photography and editing
- Print and digital design
- Follow-up evaluation
- Competitive print procurement
- Distribution and deployment of resources
Initially a printed magazine, we were engaged to create a new digital title that would accomplish the duel task of saving money on print and increasing readership. We set about developing a responsive web-app for mobile, tablet and desktop. Using experienced motorcycle journalists, we were able to migrate the offline readership to the new digital format and over a few months, generate a large number of reader contributed articles.
Thanks to locally sourced content and the support of motorcycle retailers in Hertfordshire, we have been able to effect a 66% reduction in costs at the same time as increasing the readership by over 20%.
Original created for the Safer Essex Roads Partnership and now available for licence, On Probation is a ready-made campaign designed to educate new drivers about the two year probationary period. The design is distinctively 'urban' and the set consists of a four-page leaflet, air freshener and posters in several different formats.
Cycle training promotion
This double-sided A5 postcard was commissioned by the London Borough of Richmond to promote subsidised adult cycle training. Our task was to source photography, create illustrations and pull it together with information provided by the client to create a call-to-action postcard that could be deployed in and around the borough.
Another commission from London Borough of Richmond, this project involved the complete development and creation of a bespoke wire-bound workbook for Junior Safety Officers. The workbook includes activities, planners and a thorough point of reference to help keep JSOs enthused and on-track with their important role within schools.
